39 and Counting

May 18, 2007

May 18, 1968 a future math teacher was born into this world to the proud (I am sure) parents of Richard and Eleanor Brown. Yup I turn 39 this year and the pressure is on to enjoy the last year of my thirties before .. well .. let’s not say it.

This morning before anyone was up these lovely ladies came by to drop off this cake. Charming and sweet but I sure am glad Alice wasn’t up to see them.

Tonight for the big celebration I am competing in the Chinese National Crokinole Championships held right here in our little ol’ suburb of Kai Fa Qu. Board games? … yup .. I really am turning 39!

  3. Have a Great day today!!! Of course we are very proud parents. I remember that day very well. Your Dad might have a problem remembering. He came to the hospital to see how I was doing. It was in the early morning hours and the hospital was very quit. I heard something crash to the floor down the hall and a couple of seconds later your Dad peeked his head around the door and said “did you hear that” I dropped my bottle of beer and it didn’t even break. It bounced down the hall. He had stuck it down the front of his pants to sneak it in and it fell out. I am sure they heard it two floors down. He was just happy it didn’t break. I sent him home to sleep it off. He was celebrating your arrival before you even got here.

  4. Happy Birthday Brownie!!

From your blog and the Dong Bei coverage looks like you are keeping well and hiding the age thing well. Gam Bei a bing pi zhou (sorry Alice - the Chinese isn’t sticking) on me tonight.

  5. Happy Birthday Baby! I can’t believe this is the seventh birthday we have celebrated together for you. You are as young and funny as seven years ago. Keep it up! I love you.

  7. Jesus Christ… I’m still laughing about our proud dad… hilarious story from mom. I do believe my claim to fame on my birthday is a salmon from Frank Bouchie! And now you truly do have a story to tell your grandchildren. This one just can’t die, it’s too priceless. And I do have to say that I’m so proud he quit with the drinking just shortly after that and hasn’t touched it since. Tis still a funny story though!
