TV Theme Songs - Part II

November 8, 2006

It was great to have so many people give their favourite theme song and I have to say I enjoyed them all except for “Saved By The Bell” - if you want a good 90’s theme song then “Beverly Hills 90210″ is what you are looking for. The opening guitar riff .. beautiful.

Of course Chowie Magnum had to be there - one of the all time greats. Pity the fool who doesn’t like Jeff’s selection for The A-Team theme. Loved the entry by Mom and Dad with Bonanza - a classic but I have not heard the Green Acres theme yet but it is on my list. Trust Schmurler to plant “The Fall Guy” theme in my head after it had been long forgotten. Potter always defines funk with his “Streets of San Francisco” entry. I would expect nothing less of Conradi but to post a song that was played at the END of a show rather than the beginning. Snow Monkey violation anyone?

There were a couple of omissions that I thought might make it - “Knight Rider (don’t Hasel the Hoff)”, “The Friendly Giant (the only cool song on a flute/recorder)”, “Gilligan’s Island (too campy? too obvious?)”, “The Brady Bunch (too many times?)”, “Mission Impossible (did Tom Cruise ruin it?), “Welcome Back Kotter (Wuh? Where?)”, “Hill Street Blues (too much piano maybe)”, “The Greatest American Hero (Believe it or not)”

My bad ol’ narcissistic self went on YouTube and captured my top five tv theme song intros and here are the links to the videos

#5) The Littlest Hobo

#4) Sanford and Son

#3) Simon and Simon

#2) Hawaii Five-O

#1) Spiderman 1967

  1. Yep, I’m glad you put up the Littlest Hobo! I was just thinking about that one. Kinda sappy, but for sing along value, it’s right up there with Greatest American Hero! Nice one.

  2. Defieux mocked me mercilessly for that one.
